Statement about Grantham A&E protest

Dr Suneil Kapadia, Medical Director for United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust said: “The decision to temporarily change the opening hours at Grantham A&E is due to a reduction in the availability of doctors at Lincoln and Boston together with an increase in the demand for emergency care services.

Temporary changes to the opening hours of Grantham A&E from today

Starting today (Wednesday 17 August), United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust will be temporarily changing the opening hours of the A&E department at Grantham and District Hospital to help maintain safe services across Lincolnshire.

Response to chair of SOS Grantham Hospital

On Tuesday 9 August, ULHT announced a severe shortage of doctors in our three A&Es. There is a national shortage of appropriately trained doctors to work in A&Es and ULHT is seriously affected by this. We don’t have enough doctors to fill shifts in the three departments 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
