Alcohol and drug use
The A & E Department sees some homeless people who have problems with alcohol or drugs. If you are one of them then there are several things we can do for you:
- Check that your blood sugar level is within normal range.
- Treat you with vitamins if you are in a confused or drowsy state.
- Offer you a prescription for vitamins if you are in danger of a severe deficiency.
- Fax a referral for you to the Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Team (DART), with your consent. DART will need a way of contacting you over the next few days. If you are staying in Nomad or the YMCA, the staff there will be happy to have the referral sent to them, on your behalf.
If you have no fixed abode at the moment then We Are With You (previously Addaction) are probably the best service for you to contact. They are easy to find as they are in the City Centre. They can be found at:
The New Avenue
26-30 Newland
Lincoln LN1 1XG
Their telephone numbers are:
01522 305518 24/7 Helpline 0808 131113
If you are registered with a GP, they should also be able to arrange help for you.
