Getting to Grantham and District Hospital

Grantham and District Hospital is located near to the north of the town centre, about a 10 minute walk away. It is easily accessible on foot along Manthorpe Road.

By public transport

As there is limited parking on site we encourage our staff, patients and visitors to use public transport where possible.

The Lincolnshire Transport Helpline provides information and advice on a wide range of transport options including community car schemes and CallConnect.

CallConnect is an on-demand bus service that is paid for by the customer.  If someone has a concessionary bus pass due to age or disability then they can access CallConnect free of charge. Travelling by bus

The local operator for Grantham town is Centrebus who offer regular bus services that serve the hospital – including the 27, 28, and 55.

The Stagecoach InterConnect 1 service from Lincoln to Grantham runs half-hourly.

The demand responsive, Monday to Saturday, CallConnect service, covers villages around Grantham and is available from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 7:30 to 06:30 Saturday. This bookable service is available for journeys to the Hospital.

CallConnect also provides the following timetabled services in additional to its bookable bus service.

Travelling by train

East Midlands Rail operate local direct services from Nottingham, Sleaford, Skegness and Newark

LNER operate local direct services to and from Newark and Peterborough.

Hull Trains operate services from Doncaster and Retford to Grantham

Grantham Railway station is a 10-minute walk to Grantham Bus Station with direct connections to the hospital via Centrebus and Stagecoach InterConnect 57 .

Plusbus is available from Grantham station.

Poacher Plus is available from this station where travel to & from any Lincolnshire station with CallConnect, is a flat fare of £1 each way.

By bike

There are designated cycle lanes and quieter cycle routes, both on and off road, in the centre of town and close to the Hospital. Off-road ‘green’ routes along the river Witham and through Wyndham Park

The hospital is a 10-minute cycle ride from Grantham Rail station and 7-minite ride from Grantham Bus station

By foot – Grantham

Grantham and District Hospital is a 15-minute walk from the Market Place and town centre and a 25-minute walk from Grantham Railway/Bus station.

There are ‘green’ off-road footpaths along the River Witham located nearby the Hospital.

Patient transport

If you have a medical condition that genuinely prevents you from using public or your own transport, you may be eligible for patient transport.

Living within Lincolnshire

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) run the non-emergency patient transport service (NEPTS) in Lincolnshire after they were awarded a 10-year contract by NHS Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

Living outside of Lincolnshire

All other patients living outside Lincolnshire should speak to their own GP practice about their transport requirements. Some GP practices also offer a volunteer driver service to transport patients to their outpatient appointments at our hospitals. Please check with your local GP to see if they provide this service. You can find out who your local practise is by using the NHS GP location service.

Royal Voluntary Service

The Royal Voluntary Service may be able to help you get out and about with their community transport, including taking you to hospital appointments.

By road

The hospital is situated on Manthorpe Road and is clearly signposted from all major routes.
