On site car parking
The main car park is located directly outside the main entrance to the hospital. As you enter, your number plate will be photographed by the cameras at the entrance. When you are ready to leave simply visit one of the pay kiosks and enter your number plate. An image of your car will then appear and you will be told how much you need to pay based on the length of your stay.
The kiosks can take payments via coin, notes, credit/debit card or contactless, however due to Covid-19 restrictions the kiosks cannot provide change. You can also pay using the good2go website.
You can also start planning your journey now by visiting our getting to the hospital page.
Car parking charges
All patients, visitors and staff need to park in designated parking spaces or they will receive a charge if parked inappropriately.
From Monday 2 November 2020, parking charges will be as follows:
Duration | Charges |
Up to 30 minutes | FREE |
Up to 1 hour | £1 |
1 to 4 hours | £2 |
4 – 24 hours | £5 |
Motorcycle parking | FREE |
Blue Badge holders | FREE (the vehicle needs to be pre-registered at main reception with the blue badge displayed in the windscreen. Vehicles previously registered will still be on the system). |
Concessions | Remain in place as before. For further information discuss with the ward or department. |
We aim to keep our charges as low as possible at all times, however the Trust must stay within our annual budget and so the cost of providing car parks does increase each year. Free parking is available for the following patients:
- Oncology patients receiving regular treatment
- Collection of prescriptions and hearing aid batteries
- Parents attending to support a child’s needs in the special care baby unit
- Clergy visiting parishioners
- Following bereavement
- Frequent outpatients who have to attend regular appointments to manage long-term conditions
- Adults accompanying children for emergency treatment
- Parents of sick children staying in hospital overnight.
Concessions for outpatients in receipt of certain social security benefits are available from the income office and main reception.
Patients who believe that are eligible for free parking should mention it to the clinic or ward reception team upon arrival.
If you think you are entitled to concessions, please visit any of our reception desks.
Patients and visitors are encouraged wherever possible to register to use the good2go website to pay for car parking online after their visit.
