Recently pharmacies and GP practices have been collaborating to help patients have improved access to healthcare advice and medicines. This is great for patients who are likely to be seen quicker and it helps doctors see those really poorly patients who need help most. In England, around 10,000 patients are in hospital who don’t need to be there but can’t or haven’t been discharged. The impact of this is often felt in A&E departments that have people they need to admit, but aren’t able to, because there are no beds available. Ensuring that people receive care closer to home without the need to go into hospital unnecessarily is one of our priorities in Lincolnshire

We are encouraging those patients that have the technology to use NHS111 online. By logging onto NHS111 online users will be asked the same questions as they would by a call handler. If they need an ambulance one will be called and if they need to speak to a clinician it will be arranged as a call back.
