The parents of Gainsborough man, Liam Guilliatt, have raised £1,300 for United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity in his memory, helping to support patients receiving respiratory care at Lincoln County Hospital.

Liam Guilliatt was only 36 when he sadly died during the COVID pandemic. Born three months premature, he lived with respiratory challenges throughout his life and was a regular visitor to the Respiratory Support Unit at Lincoln County Hospital. Over the years the family built strong and heartfelt connections with the staff who treated him.

Liam’s mum Carol cannot thank the staff enough for their exceptional care and professionalism.

“We owe them so much for their compassion, hard work, and support over the years. Being able to give something back in Liam’s memory means his legacy will live on, which makes us so very proud of our precious son.”

As their way of saying thank you, and to help them cope with their loss, Carol and Liam’s dad, Trevor, now host an annual fundraiser at the Blues Club, in Gainsborough. Supported by close family friend Philly, the event has become a cherished tribute to Liam.

Liam was a popular young man and loved by many, so it was probably no surprise when their fifth event, in December 2025 raised an incredible £1,170 for United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity. This donation will provide improved healthcare and treatments within the respiratory services at Lincoln County Hospital.

As Liam was such a dedicated supporter of his local football team, Friendship FC it seemed only fitting that Philly and Trevor wore the teams kit when they visited the hospital to present their donation to Professor Karen Dunderdale, Chief Executive Officer of Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity Fundraiser, Connor Hill, expressed his appreciation and said: “This donation will contribute to specialist equipment, updated patient facilities, and resources that make hospital stays less distressing for patients and their families.

“Thanks to the generosity of Liam’s family and friends, the unit can continue to evolve its services, ensuring that other patients living with complex respiratory conditions benefit from the same compassion, dignity and high-quality support that Liam received throughout his life.”
