Emerald Suite at Grantham and District Hospital will open its doors to the public for a glimpse into the systemic anti-cancer therapy, such as chemotherapy, and other supportive treatments for people diagnosed with cancer.
United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH) invites members of the public to visit the treatment area and learn more about how the treatment is provided for patients. Anyone interested in seeing the Emerald Suite can pop in on Saturday 10 May, any time between 10am and 12 noon.
The team will be on hand to answer any questions, give a short tour of the department, and explain what services are available at the Emerald Suite in Grantham hospital. Alongside meeting the Trust’s dedicated staff, there will be refreshments and information displays. There’s no need to book.
Katy Williams, Deputy Sister at the Emerald Suite, said: “We often hear from patients that they would like to be able to show their families where they receive cancer treatment, so this open day will allow them to do that. Any patients who are about to receive treatment at the suite are also welcome to come to see the unit and ask any questions so we can help put them at ease. It is also an excellent opportunity to learn how we look after our patients.
“This is the first time for us in Grantham, but previous open days in Lincoln have been really popular, so we are really pleased that we can offer such an insight day for Emerald Suite, too. I’d encourage anyone interested to come along, whether they’re patients, family members, or visitors.”
