The children’s wards at a Lincolnshire Hospital are getting ready for the Rio Olympics by decorating the wards with some of the patients’ creations.
Children on Safari and Rainforest wards at Lincoln County Hospital have been taking part in a range of craft activities to decorate the wards ready for the Olympic Games 2016 which begin this week.
Olympic rings and torches, all decorated by the children have been displayed around the wards by staff including Samantha Young and Donna Wilkinson, play leaders along with flags and bunting to encourage enthusiasm for the Olympics.
Terry Vine, Matron for Acute Paediatrics said, “The staff have done a great job in decorating the wards for the Olympics. We like to have current themes to make the ward brighter and more welcoming, and the Olympics is something that can appeal to all ages and all interests and will be very high profile over the next few weeks. We hope children and their families will enjoy what we have done.”
Safari Ward is a children’s day ward dealing with children aged from birth to 16 years old. The ward cares for children undergoing various daycase surgery and is also a children’s emergency assessment unit. Rainforest Ward is our inpatient children’s ward and also covers from birth to 16 years old.
