Celebrating our NHS stars: column by Rebecca Brown, Group Chair, Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group

We are fast approaching our Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals Group (LCHG) Staff Awards; an annual event which celebrates the amazing community and hospital staff working across the NHS in Lincolnshire.

Every year, the awards are an opportunity for the people of Lincolnshire to acknowledge the hard work, dedication and care shown by community and hospital staff and where they have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and care.

Last year, we were delighted to receive the highest number of nominations we’d ever had, which shows how many wonderful staff members we have, not only those who were nominated but those who did the nominating too. Each nomination is a reminder of the deep sense of community, purpose, and pride that runs through our organisation.

What strikes me most is that the nominations never fail to reveal stories we might otherwise never hear. Moments of quiet compassion. Acts of leadership delivered without a spotlight. Innovations that solve real problems for real people. And countless examples of staff simply going above and beyond because it’s the right thing to do.

Our awards are open for anyone to make a nomination, including members of the public, patients and our colleagues.  We especially love hearing from patients or members of the public who share their positive experiences, often thanking a staff member or team for the care that they or a family member has received.

The categories themselves reflect the breadth of our workforce. Clinical and non-clinical, frontline and behind-the-scenes, recognising excellence in patient care, compassion and respect, great teamwork and innovation amongst other things.  It is always great to hear the amount of fantastic work which is going on throughout the Group, and how it has a positive impact on our patients.

The awards evening itself promises to be a wonderful celebration where over 400 staff will attend the awards night at the Epic Centre, Lincolnshire Showground. It is an opportunity for connection, shared pride, and recognition.

As Chair, I am honoured to be part of an organisation filled with such remarkable individuals and look forward to celebrating them in the Autumn.
