Five minutes with… Marie Newmarch – Patient representative 

What was the first record you ever bought?

The first record I bought was Love me do by The Beatles.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by Alan Sugar.

Name one thing you couldn’t live without?

I couldn’t live without my garden.

How would your friends and colleagues describe you?

I would hope my friends and colleagues would describe me as helpful to them.

Which three people, living or dead, would you invite to a dinner party and why?

I would like to invite Ken Bruce, Hunter Davies and Monty Don for dinner.

What was the last thing that made you smile?

Seeing my six year old granddaughter dressed as a witch ready for Halloween.

What talent do you wish you had?

I would like to be able to sing, so that I could join in many of the choirs around today. 

Who’s your favourite band?

My favourite band is The Beatles.

Where is your favourite place in the world?

Denmark.

What’s your favourite book?

My favourite books are those written by Peter Robinson.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you take with you?

I would take my sewing machine (although it probably wouldn’t be much good without electricity!), my favourite red hat which I have had for many years and an orchid plant.

How would you like to be remembered?

I would like to think that people would remember me for being helpful and considerate towards them and always being there if they needed me.
