NHS Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES)

The Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) is a set of ten specific measures (metrics) that will enable NHS organisations to compare the experiences of disabled and non-disabled staff.

We celebrate the incredible diversity of the population of Lincolnshire and the significant benefits inclusion brings to the county, and particularly to the local NHS.

The WDES has been commissioned by the Equality and Diversity Council (EDC) and developed through a pilot and extensive engagement with Trusts and key stakeholders. It is mandated through the NHS Standard Contract and is restricted to NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts for the first two years of implementation.

The WDES is a set of ten specific measures (metrics) that will enable us, as an NHS organisation, to compare the experiences of disabled and non-disabled staff. We will use this information to develop a local action plan, which will enable us to demonstrate progress against the indicators of disability equality.

The WDES is new in 2019, and our first WDES report and actions, based on our data from the financial year 2018-2019 is published below.
