We are sending text messages to patients who have been referred to us to ensure they still wish to remain on our waiting list.
We will typically check with you every 12 weeks to confirm you are still on the waiting list and to give you an opportunity to update us if anything has changed and you don’t need the appointment any more.
There may be many reasons why you no longer wish to be seen; typically this will be because your symptoms have recovered without intervention or you have been treated elsewhere (community nursing, private healthcare etc).
The validation request will come as a text message asking you to fill in a questionnaire to confirm if you still need an appointment. Please respond as soon as possible, so that we can make any required changes. Don’t worry if you’re not able to respond to the message or you don’t have a smartphone or a computer – we will not remove you from the waiting list if you don’t respond to the message.
Do I need to do anything now, before the waiting list validation starts?
Yes, please check with your GP to ensure that your correct mobile number and postal address is on record. You can also check the details we hold for you with a hospital reception during your next visit.
How this helps you
- Easier and faster – it’s a convenient way for you to let the hospital know if no longer need to be on the waiting lists. You can log in using any device, such as your phone or your laptop.
- Improved accessibility – our sight-impaired and blind patients can benefit by using screen readers, change contrast or enlarge the font on screen. The portal also provides translation of the questionnaire into over 100 languages.
- Environmentally conscious – going digital will save paper and postage costs.
You can see below the screenshots of how the online portal looks where you confirm whether you still need the appointment.
