Visiting the neonatal unit

There may be some things you need to know before coming to the unit.

Where are we?

  • Lincoln – we are based on the sixth floor of the maternity building.
  • Boston – we are based on the fourth floor of the tower block.

Visiting times:

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic please check with the neonatal unit as visiting restrictions are in place and can change at any time. We have iPads on the units which allow parents/families to use Facetime or Skype should you wish.

Parent bedrooms

  • Lincoln has three parent bedrooms available for parents to use when their baby is on the unit.
  • Boston has two ensuite bedrooms available for parents to use when there baby is on the unit.

Ward rounds

Ward rounds are when the core senior clinical and nursing teams come round to each bedside to observe and assess your baby’s condition.

Ward rounds take place at the following times:

Monday to Friday: 10am – 11am

Weekends: Times vary. Please ask your baby’s named nurse.

If you are visiting during a ward round you will normally be invited to stay while your baby’s care is being discussed. We may ask you to leave the nursery while other babies are being assessed, in order to ensure privacy and confidentiality is maintained.

Outside of the ward round you may like to meet with your consultant to answer any questions or concerns you may have. They will be available between 10am and 4pm. Please speak with your nurse to arrange a convenient meeting time.
