Orthodontics

The orthodontic service provides opinions to dental practitioners, medical practitioners and community dental officers as well as liaison with specialist practitioners and dentists with a special interest in orthodontic treatment.

We provide a comprehensive secondary care orthodontic service to Lincolnshire.

The service also provides liaison and joint treatment with hospital consultants including maxillofacial surgeons, plastic surgeons paediatricians and restorative dental surgeons.

Within the hospitals’ orthodontic clinics treatment is provided for patients with severe and high complex dental conditions. The majority of these patients require multi-speciality treatment, for example care for patients with jaw deformities, cleft lip and palate problems, impacted and displaced teeth and other severe malocclusions.

The orthodontic department also has a teaching and training role, teaching and training specialist registrars and ongoing teaching and supervision of dental practitioners with a special interest in orthodontic treatment.

The clinical lead for the department is Dr Michael Coupland, consultant orthodontist.
