Lung Cancer Support Service

The lung cancer clinical nurse specialists (CNS) team work within Lincoln County Hospital inpatient and outpatient areas to provide specialist care and support for those undergoing investigations for suspected lung cancer as well as those with a confirmed diagnosis of lung cancer or mesothelioma.

The lung cancer CNS (LCNS) team work closely with both respiratory and oncology physicians and are responsible for providing a specialist nursing service within Lincoln County Hospital and are responsible for ensuring coordination of care throughout the diagnostic and treatment stages of the pathway to ensure patients and their families/carers are well supported throughout.

The LCNS team provides expertise and knowledge to both patients and other healthcare professionals including symptom control and access to other support services to assist timely discharge from hospital and prevent inappropriate hospital admissions.

Each patient with a confirmed diagnosis will undergo a comprehensive holistic assessment of needs, to ensure the patients and their family / carer’s needs are met. This includes symptom management, financial assessment and appropriate referrals to other allied health and social care professionals.

The current service working hours are:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8am – 4pm
Tuesday and Thursday, 8am – 6pm
The service is not open on Bank Holidays.
