The Macmillan lung cancer CNS (LCNS) team work closely with both respiratory and oncology physicians and are responsible for providing a specialist nursing service within Lincoln County Hospital and are responsible for ensuring coordination of care throughout the diagnostic and treatment stages of the pathway to ensure patients and their families/carers are well supported throughout.
They work closely with the specialist palliative care team to ensure that patients nearing end of life or with complex palliative symptom management issues are well cared for and supported.
The LCNS team provides expertise and knowledge to both patients and other healthcare professionals including symptom control and access to other support services to assist timely discharge from hospital and prevent inappropriate hospital admissions.
Each patient with a confirmed diagnosis will undergo a comprehensive holistic assessment of needs, done by the LCNS, to ensure the patients and their family / carer’s needs are met. This includes symptom management, financial assessment and appropriate referrals to other allied health and social care professionals.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8am – 4pm
Tuesday and Thursday, 8am – 6pm
