The unit, based on the Grantham hospital site, consists of six nurse-led, community beds and provides care for patients who meet the following criteria:

  • End of life
  • Requiring symptom control
  • Palliative rehabilitation
  • Carer break down, to prevent admission to acute hospital

The unit is the first of its kind in the country, with patients under the care of GPs who receive treatment from hospital nursing staff with other healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists close to hand in the hospital.

While boasting the very latest in purpose-designed facilities, the unit also brings patient care closer to nature like never before with the six en-suite rooms opening up into their own private grounds outside and sharing a sun room and picturesque courtyard.

More than 160 people a year will benefit from having the state-of-the-art facilities and specialised end-of-life care on their doorstep.
