Specialist Nurse Trainers for Children with Disabilities

We are nurses with qualifications in children’s nursing. We have a range of experience in caring for children with disabilities in the community, school and hospital settings.

We work with children from birth to the age of 19 years.

Our aim is to support children with a disability and additional physical health needs in a variety of settings by providing training and support for their carers.  A referral to our service is required for carers to be able to access the appropriate training.

Training is available but not limited to:

  • Antegrade Continence Enema (ACE)
  • Anaphylaxis & Autoinjector Pens (not for school)
  • Administration of buccal Midazolam
  • Epilepsy Awareness
  • Febrile Convulsions
  • Gastrostomy Feeding
  • Hydrocephalus & Shunt Awareness
  • Intermittent Self Catheterisation/Intermittent Catheterisation by Carer
  • Long-term ventilation (CPAP/BIPAP)
  • Nasogastric Feeding
  • Nasopharyngeal Suction
  • Oxygen Use
  • Administration of rectal Diazepam
  • Administration of rectal Paraldehyde
  • Oral Suction
  • Catheterisation via Mitrofanoff
  • Tracheostomy Care
  • Stoma Care

Monday to Friday:  9.00am to 5.00pm

Training is provided following a full referral to the service. Please contact the office to discuss your requirements and for a referral form.

Training/visits can be arranged outside of these hours with prior arrangement all year round including school holidays. We will try to be as flexible as possible.
