This is a 12-bed orthopaedic ward, incorporating a trauma assessment unit (TAU), next to the integrated assessment centre (IAC), behind the A&E department.
The unit serves women and men being referred symptomatically from their GP and those who require further assessment following their three yearly breast screening mammogram. Surveillance mammography for breast cancer and family history and those eligible for breast screening are all undertaken within the unit. The nurses provide prosthetic fitting, counselling and lymphoedema services for their patients. It is located through the main entrance following signs past the lifts for the breast unit.
The consultant breast and oncoplastic surgeon also provides a micro pigmentation service at the Johnson Community Hospital in Spading. Some clinics are also held at Pilgrim if patients are unable to visit Spalding.
