Information
Our team provides a dedicated and dynamic service for children and young people with diabetes. We support and educate all our patients and families to manage their condition and believe they are the centre of our team.
What we offer:
- Initial and continued support and training around a diabetes diagnosis, for children, young people, families and professionals.
- Our aim is to support children and young people in a variety of settings by providing care plans, training and support for their carers. Schools and other settings can access this service. A referral to our service is required for carers to be able to access the appropriate training.
- We offer an on-call emergency advice service.
- Support and advice around continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pump therapy.
- We hold regular 3 monthly clinics in conjunction with the whole multi-disciplinary team.
- We can make and support referrals to both the dietetic and psychology teams for further support if required.
- We regularly support Peer support events.

Daytime Emergency On-Call Service
Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm
Weekends and Bank Holidays 11am to 3pm.
For urgent concerns during these hours please telephone your local ULTH Hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to the Paediatric Diabetes Nurse on call.
Out of hours Emergency On-Call Service
For urgent concerns out of the above hours overnight please contact your local ULTH Hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to the Paediatric Registrar on call.
