The wards at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and a few details of each one are available below:

Ward 1
This is a transitional care ward for elderly patients. It is located near the restaurant at the end of the corridor. Contact (01205) 445208 / 446601.

Visiting times are 2pm - 4pm and 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Ward 2A
This is an elective admissions ward. Adults visit this ward for assessment prior to various general surgeries. It is located in the tower block on level 2. Contact (01205) 445622

Visiting times are 2pm - 4pm and 6.30pm - 8.30 pm

Ward 2B
This is a ward for use by patients who are having day case surgery. It is located in the tower block on level 2. Contact (01205) 446135

Ward 2C High Dependency Unit
This is an intensive care unit that deals with high dependency adult patients. It is located in the tower block on level 2. Contact (01205) 445528 / 445628

Visiting times are 2.30pm - 4.30pm and 6.30pm - 8pm

Ward 3A
This is an orthopaedic ward. It is located in the tower block on level 3. Contact (01205) 445635

Ward 3B
This is an orthopaedic trauma ward. It is located in the tower block on level 3. Contact (01205) 445632

Ward 5A
This is a surgical ward. It is located in the tower block on level 5. Contact (01205) 445653

Ward 5B

Ward 6A
This is an elderly ward. It is located in the tower block on level 6. Contact (01205) 445661

Ward 6B
This is an elderly ward. It is located in the tower block on level 6. Contact (01205) 446539

Ward 7A
This is an oncology and haematology unit that also deals with general medicine. It is located in the tower block on level 7. Contact (01205) 445347

Ward 7B
This is a medical ward. It is located in the tower block on level 7. Contact (01205) 445665

Visiting times are 2pm - 4pm and 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Ward 8A
This is a medical ward dealing with urology, surgery and various other cases. It is located in the tower block on level 8. Contact (01205) 445677

Visiting times are 2pm - 4pm and 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Ward 8B
This is a medical and elderly ward. It is located in the tower block on level 8. Contact (01205) 445673

Children's Ward
This is a ward caring for children from one week to 16 years old.

Open visiting operates on this ward for one parent, grandparent or sibling over 18 at any one time. Visiting times are 8am - 8pm for all other visitors.

Coronary Care Unit
This is a unit dealing with patients who need heart monitoring. It is located near the X-ray Department opposite the corridor to ENT. Contact (01205) 445524 / 445939

Visiting times are 2.30pm - 4.30pm and 6.30pm - 8.30pm. Visiting outside of these times is at the discretion of the nurse in charge.

Discharge Lounge
This is a unit that deals with patients who are being discharged. It is located in the tower block on level 7. Contact (01205) 445526

Clinical Decisions Unit
This is a referral unit for accident and emergency patients as well as GP referred cases. It is located in the main hospital building behind the Accident and Emergency Department. Contact (01205) 445995 / 445996

Stroke Unit
This is a ward specifically for stroke patients. It is located near the restaurant on the left hand side of the corridor. Contact (01205) 445657

Visiting times are 2pm - 4pm and 6.30pm - 8.30 pm, except Thursdays when they are 1pm - 2.30pm and 6.30pm - 8.30pm.

Rochford Unit
This is a unit dealing with psychiatry for elderly patients. It is located in the main hospital building, near Bostonian Wing. Contact (01205) 446550

Visiting times are 1.30pm - 4.30pm and 6.30pm - 8.15pm

Labour Ward
This is a ward specifically for women in labour and is in the hospital’s maternity block. Contact (01205) 445424

M1 maternity
This is a maternity ward. It is located in the maternity block directly next to the main entrance for the hospital. Contact (01205) 445429

Partners visiting times (up to two birthing partners) are 9am - 9pm. Visiting times are 2pm - 5pm and 7pm - 8.30pm (only two visitors at any given time) for all other visitors.

M2 maternity
This is an all female ward for post operative gynaecology and breast patients. It is located in the maternity block directly next to the main entrance. Contact (01205) 445432

M4 maternity

Open visiting operates on this ward for partners and parents. Visiting times are 2.30pm - 5.30pm and 7pm - 8pm for all other visitors.

Breast Unit The Unit serves ladies being referred symptomatically from their GP and those who require further assessment following their three yearly breast screening mammogram. Surveillance mammography for breast cancer and family history and those eligible for breast screening are all undertaken within the unit. The nurses provide prosthetic fitting service, counselling service and lymphoedema service for their patients. It is located through the main entrance following signs past the lifts for the Breast Unit.
