Friends and Family Test

The NHS Friends and Family Test is just one of the ways we gather your feedback, but it’s an extremely important one as it helps us make any improvements to our services.

Why is The NHS Friends and Family Test important?

The NHS Friends and Family Test is just one of the ways we gather your feedback, but it’s an extremely important one as it helps us make any improvements to our services.

We want to make sure that patients experience the best possible care and that they can easily let us know their views on the quality of care they received. The test adds value to the existing feedback we already gather. The Friends and Family Test is near real time feedback that is directly comparable across hospitals. The results will provide us with valuable information on how the inpatient and day case wards, outpatients, paediatrics, therapies, radiology, maternity services and our emergency department are performing in the eyes of our patients.

Patients are asked “How likely are you to recommend our ward to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?”

This will be sent to you either by SMS or as an automated telephone survey within 48 hours of leaving our services which will ask you to rate your experience. We will use your feedback to assess the quality of our service so your response would be very much appreciated. However if you do not wish to take part you can simply reply STOP when you receive the message. Responses to the survey are FREE.
We will ask you this question when you are discharged or within 48 hours that follow to help us improve services.

Some patient comments

“All staff were exceptional everyone was so very friendly and nothing was too much trouble the care was second too non. Just felt like I was at home cannot praise them enough.  You cannot improve this service that was given to me. It felt more like a hotel, than a hospital visit you cannot improve on the best treatment.”

“All the staff with whom I came into contact were courteous, kind and professional. My appointment was on time and the doctor gave me the time I needed as an elderly lady, to explain and discuss my condition. I am really grateful to all concerned for making the experience as comfortable as possible, and a special thank you the doctor and the nurse who guided and supported me. I’m only sorry I didn’t ask her name. Thank you for an exemplary service.”

“All the staff was very friendly and helped a lot, like calming down, when I was really worrying about surgery, as it was my first one.. I would definitely recommend my friends or family, if they would some treatment.. Excellent staff.”

“Its customer care, the service is exceptional right from receptionist, through the nurse to the doctor. Always nervous going in, come out completely relaxed and a feeling I’ve been cared for – thank you all so much!”
