Staff at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have been recognised for their hard work and dedication at a special staff awards evening.

Last night, nearly 200 members of staff from a wide range of roles across the Trust and patients attended the third annual ULHT staff awards at the Princess Royal Sport Arena in Boston. It was hosted by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior and sponsored by NL Managed Services, Kier, Vygon and Dr Foster.

There were 13 award categories including awards for compassion and respect towards others, great patient experience and unsung hero. Each highly commended and overall award winner was presented with a trophy or certificate by a member of the board or one of our sponsors.

This year an impressive 430 nominations were received in total, showcasing the enthusiasm and quality of care that is given to patients and colleagues. This is an increase from just 150 nominations overall the year before.

The evening brought together staff and patients from across Lincolnshire and provided a glimpse of the inspirational work and care that is delivered every day.

Jan Sobieraj, chief executive of ULHT said: “These awards are a great example of how we can really celebrate that good practice – the ways in which our staff go out of their way, every day, to do the best for patients.

“Since starting work at the Trust, I’ve seen lots of examples of great practice across our hospitals that is kept very quiet. I’ve observed how our staff are very modest and just get on with things, keeping a low profile and not realising that what they are doing is so amazing.

“It’s very important that we recognise good practice for a number of reasons. It supports learning,  promotes innovation and gives our staff confidence and the recognition they deserve.”

Trust Chair Dean Fathers said: “The event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements and successes of colleagues who work tirelessly to ensure that the quality of care delivered across all our hospitals is the best that it can be. Getting the chance to hear our winners, presenters and patients talk about their experiences was inspiring for all.

“Many congratulations to all of the winners and I look forward to celebrating the next year’s achievements.”
