Dr Hepburn trained in dermatology and managment in the Army. He undertook specialist dermatology training at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Keen to improve the treatment of soldiers who contracted cutaneous leishmaniais in Belize he undertook a series of research projects into the disease for which he was awarded the MD degree. He joined United Lincolnshire Hospitals in May 1997 and has worked to improve the dermatology services for patients since then. In recent years he has become more involved in the development of the Hospital Trust as a whole. He enjoys medical writing and public speaking. He was appointed Trust medical director in May 2017.
