Acute Cardiac Unit (ACU)

This is a unit dealing with patients who need heart monitoring. It is located in the tower block on level 7.

Acute Medical Short Stay (AMSS) 9th floor

This is a 48-bed Acute Medical Short Stay unit (AMSS), for a maximum stay of 72 hours. It is located in the tower block on level 9.

Breast Unit

The unit serves women and men being referred symptomatically from their GP and those who require further assessment following their three yearly breast screening mammogram. Surveillance mammography for breast cancer and family history and those eligible for breast screening are all undertaken within the unit. The nurses provide prosthetic fitting, counselling and lymphoedema services for their patients. It is located through the main entrance following signs past the lifts for the breast unit.

The consultant breast and oncoplastic surgeon also provides a micro pigmentation service at the Johnson Community Hospital in Spading. Some clinics are also held at Pilgrim if patients are unable to visit Spalding.

Children’s Ward

This ward cares for children aged from one week to 16 years old. It is located in the tower block on level 4.

Day Case Unit

This ward is for patients who are having day case surgery. It is located in the tower block on level 2.

Emergency Department (A&E)

Open 24/7 every day of the year providing emergency care.

Integrated Assessment Centre (IAC)

This is a referral unit for accident and emergency patients as well as GP referred cases, incorporating ambulatory emergency care (AEC) and a surgical admissions unit (SAU).

It is located in the main hospital building just behind the accident and emergency department.

Intensive Care Unit

The intensive care unit deals with high dependency adult patients. It is located in the tower block on level 2.

Labour Ward

This ward is specifically for women in labour and is in the hospital’s maternity block.

M1 Maternity

This is a maternity ward. It is located in the maternity block directly next to the main entrance for the hospital.

Rochford Unit

This unit deals with psychiatry for elderly patients. It is located in the main hospital building, near the Bostonian wing.

SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care)

This ward provides care and treatment for patients that are expected to be discharged on the same day as admission: ‘Same day discharge’.

The Bostonian

This is an oncology and haematology ward. It is located on the ground floor of the hospital.

Ward 5A

This is part of the hospital’s integrated surgical unit for general, vascular and urology surgery. Ward 5A is located in the tower block on level 5 and specialises in general and urology surgery.
