Interpretation and translation service
The Trust has a responsibility to provide interpreters and translated information to patients and carers who speak English as a second language, have a hearing/visual impairment, or have a learning disability.
We have a new agreement with a region-wide NHS interpretation and translation service that the Trust will be using a single contact point for all our face to face interpretation and written translation needs. We will continue to use Language Line for telephone interpretation and Deaf Lincs for British Sign Language interpreters.
Face to face interpreters and written translation
Pearl Linguistics is a national company using local suppliers from a network of nearly 1,000 interpreters, including many who are already working with our patients across Lincolnshire. They provide the following services:
- Face-to-face interpretation
- Written translations
- Braille, large print, audio, easy-read
- Qualified and experienced interpreters
- 24/7 availability
- Comprehensive reports which can be tailored to a specific department
- Online booking (coming soon)
- Information materials (including language posters for patients)
Telephone interpretation - Language Line
Language Line’s telephone interpreting service gives us access to 170 languages 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in under a minute. You can access Language Line from any telephone, however it can be made even easier with a Dual Handset Phone.
BSL interpreters
Deaf Lincs provide BSL interpreters for deaf people whose preferred language is British Sign Language.
For booking forms and other information about arranging interpretation and translation please go to the Interpretation and Translation section of the Trust Intranet site.
