Here you will find the times of the mealtimes and information on protected mealtimes. Protected mealtimes are periods where non-urgent clinical activities stop on hospital wards. During these times patients are able to eat without being interrupted and staff can offer assistance. Research has shown that patients who are not interrupted and receive the appropriate service support during mealtimes are happier, more relaxed and eat more. If the patients have a good nutritional intake their chances of recovery are improved.
In 1859 Florence Nightingale said:
"Nothing shall be done on the wards while patients are having their meals."
This vision is now becoming a reality within United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
