About Endoscopy services
We have four enodoscopy units at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, Grantham and District Hospital and County Hospital, Louth.
The units provide flexible endoscopy procedures to patients. The use of flexible scope enables a patient to have diagnostic or therapeutic procedures under local anaesthetic or conscious sedation. This enables the patient to have their procedure as either and outpatient or inpatient.
In the units, a wide range of procedures are carried out including:
- Oesophagoduodenoscopy (OGD)
- Colonoscopy
- Sigmoidoscopy
- Bronchoscopy
- Cystoscopy
- Transoesphageal Echo (TOES)
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP). This is carried out in the Xray Department.
These are diagnostic procedures but therapeutic work can be carried out if required.
