Emergency assessment is carried out in most Lincolnshire hospitals in dedicated Emergency Assessment Units. These are based at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and Grantham and District Hospital.
These units are used for patients who have recently been admitted to hospital, and allows them to receive dedicated assessment and care so that further steps for their care can be planned.
Most patients stay in the assessment units for less than 72 hours, before being discharged or moved to a more permanent bed on a ward dedicated to the kind of care they require.
