Services we offer

A listening ear
Being in hospital can be a difficult time for patients and visitors alike. With so many things going on, it is sometimes helpful to talk to someone. Our chaplains are available to listen to your concerns. All our chaplains are trained in pastoral care and offer confidential support. You don’t have to be religious to contact us.
Contact your specific religious leader
If you would like us to make contact with your local priest/ minister/ religious
leader, please ask a member of your healthcare team to get in touch with us. We
will endeavour to make that contact for you.
Please note: To maintain your confidentiality we can only ever make contact with
your local priest/ minister/ religious leader once you have made a specific
request to us.
Hospital chapels and holy communion
Hospital chapel areas on each of the hospital sites are for quiet, reflection and prayer by people of all faiths and none. Our chapel areas are open night and day. We are able to provide chapel services on most hospital sites, so please ask a member of your healthcare team to contact us for further information.
If you would like to have holy communion brought to your bedside, this can be arranged on request.
Day and night emergency call-out service
As chaplains we provide an emergency service night and day. If such an emergency in your situation arises and you need to see a chaplain urgently please speak to a member of your healthcare team who is able to contact one for you.
Chaplaincy teams
The Trust offers teams of chaplains from various Christian denominations and backgrounds. Whilst respecting our various traditions, we work together (ecumenically) across all wards and departments in the hospitals. Anglican (Church of England), Free Church and Roman Catholic chaplains are available throughout the Trust for people of all faiths and none.
It is possible for specific religious leaders of any faith community to be contacted upon request. Where patients of other faith groups prefer to see a representative from their own faith community, a member of the chaplaincy department will endeavour to facilitate this contact, as requested.
